The SSBC Youth Group is heading to beautiful Myrtle Beach this summer. While we all think about the tourist destinations, it's easy to miss the reality that Myrtle Beach is a legit city with all the normal challenges of urban life. We will be serving through LeaderTreks as they partner with a ministry to children and teenagers that operates year-round in the city. Our mornings will largely be spent doing work projects for families in the community while the afternoon will be an outreach to the teenagers in the community.
The reason we are serving through LeaderTreks is their priority on equipping students to develop as Christian leaders who use their influence to make much of Christ. This missions trip makes for an excellent follow-up from our Student Ministry Bootcamp and will continue our emphasis on forming a Student Minsitry Team, which will launch at the beginning of the 2020-21 school-year.
The cost for the missions trip will be $600/student. We will take two days to drive there and back (finding a church 2/3 of the way there to sleep so we are well-rested for when we arrive). Our team meetings are scheduled for mornings of the first Saturday each month beginning in March. High School students can apply to participate here. The application deadline is February 23.

Student Ministry Bootcamp
Student Ministry Bootcamp is a Friday-Saturday retreat for high schoolers who want to learn about becoming a student-minister in their schools, community, and church. This is an opportunity to learn from one of the incredible trainers at LeaderTreks how you can serve, lead, and influence others in the name of Jesus. If you have ever wondered how you could influence others for the glory of God, this is something you won't want to miss. Because it's a compact retreat, we are requiring students to attend Friday evening through all day Saturday.

"Camp Cod" is a fall retreat in September (after Labor Day) at Camp Good News on Cape Cod. This retreat helps to usher students back into the school year and aims to equip them spiritually as they begin the new academic year. We have a lot of fun playing games and building relationships. Camp Cod was the weekend of September 20-22, 2019.
