Medical Mission Trip to Kenya 2025
Bringing help and hope to the people of Embulbul, Kenya
SSBC plans to return to Kenya in the summer of 2025. Members and attenders can apply for this trip here.
In 2009, a small group of people visited SSBC mission partners, Mark and Lois Shaw, in Nairobi, Kenya. Our small team went on a fact-finding mission with Karen Community Church (KCC), in the poverty-stricken Embulbul slum area nearby. That survey resulted in a free medical clinic in Embulbul, which led to other outreach efforts for both physical care and spiritual impact. Praise God for the gospel partnership between several churches and mission partners in the US and Kenya!
Since then SSBC has sent a team almost every year to work with KCC to help provide medical care, orphan care, run sports camps, and provide needed food and supplies. Because of these clinics, thousands of people in Embulbul have been cared for and given access to simple medicines that we in the US take for granted. Many have seen the love of Jesus and heard the gospel because of our church teams collaborating in this work.
These trips have an impact on the community long after our team heads home. Ongoing gospel ministries are happening in Embulbul, a primarily Muslim community, because of the medical clinic. KCC now has a small church plant in Embulbul, where about 25 people meet for church outside until they can purchase a building.
What does it take to run the medical clinic?
KCC provides meals and housing for volunteers, hires Kenyan doctors, and gets local sponsors. SSBC provides funds for medical supplies and helping hands to organize the clinic and care for hurting people. Lots of prayer is needed as they care for this community of people and share the love and words of Jesus.
