2012 Women's Retreat

March 9 THRU 10

Womens2012

The South Shore Baptist Church's Women's Ministry team is excited about this year's women's retreat! The Lord has truly blessed us with this beautiful new building, and what a joy to be able to use it as a means of getting together and encouraging each other in fellowship and in the Word.

We will be hearing from three speakers, Suzanne Weston, Janet Ells, and Pam Hambley. These women have been serving at SSBC for many years, and are excited to share messages from the book of Colossians in relation to the retreat theme, "The Supremacy of Christ in our relationships." We will first be encouraged in our relationship with the Lord, then in our relationship with believers, and then our relationships with the lost.

We will have time of worship, and time in small groups. For those who attended last year, the small groups truly helped what we learned to take root in our hearts, and gave us time to get to know the other women in a more special way. We will also enjoy some delicious treats on Friday night, and catered breakfast and lunch on Saturday.

Much prayer has gone into the preparations for this retreat - and we know the Lord wants to use this time for us to sit at His feet, be fed by the Word and grow in our relationship with HIM, and those around us.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!!

Much love in Christ,

The Women's Ministry Retreat Team

Speaker Bio's

Suzanne Weston

Suzanne Weston Suzanne Weston has a passion to see women gain a true knowledge and love for Christ through His Word. Her desire is to help them to be free from worldly thinking. Suzanne accepted Christ at Vacation Bible School 37 years ago, and grew up through the SSBC youth group, loving God's Word. She memorized the book of Colossians in high school. After graduating from UVM she enjoyed a career in merchandising, but always knew she was equipped for more. She has spent the past ten years in women's ministry, first teaching Precept Bible studies and then leading Moms Together. Suzanne has been married to Jim for 20 years and has a 6th grade son, Ian, and a 5th grade daughter, Evan.

Janet Ells

Janet Ells In 1981 Janet Ells came to faith in the Lord Jesus. She was baptized, married, and had three children while at SSBC from 1981 to 1989. Then she and her husband helped to plant North River Community Church. They returned to SSBC in 1999, happy to be "home" and living a block away from church! Janet has taught 5th grade Sunday School, served at VBS and on various committees, and has hosted home Bible studies. She has seen the power of God's Word in her life and the life of others, so she loves to serve in any way that gets people into God's Word. Janet has taught Community Bible Study for 11 years after serving as a small group leader, a substitute, a children's teacher, and the children's director in that ministry. Two of her 20-something children live on the North Shore: David, a video producer and Katie, a proof reader and Bible study leader. Her youngest, Laura, graduated from college in May, works at Banana Republic, and lives at home. Janet taught high school math and currently tutors math.

Pam Hambley

Pam Hambley Growing up as a "church kid", Pam Hambley always thought of herself as Christian, but didn't realize that Christianity involved a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In fact, anyone who spoke about Jesus that way gave her cause for concern! Nonetheless, Jesus grabbed hold of her when, as a new stay-at-home mom, she checked out a Community Bible Study class in Connecticut. Since then, Pam has had a thirst for knowing Christ better and making Him known to others. Since moving to Hingham in 2003, she's been an Associate Teaching Director at Community Bible Study for 6 years, as well as a SSBC small group leader, Couples Ministry team member, VBS crew leader, and various other committees. She is married to Marc and has two high school age students, Charlotte and Eric.

* Each of our speakers have taken Jeramie's class on Biblical Preaching and are excited to be given this opportunity to minister to us.
