Parents (and grandparents) are God's original children's ministry. God calls parents, and especially fathers, to “bring [children] up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).

  Adventure Bibles
First Graders receive their Adventure Bibles this fall


Ideally, Christian parenting is about training children in the Bible's truths, praying for their conversion and spiritual growth, and exemplifying mature Christian living for them. SSBC's Children's Ministry seeks to support families in this task. Through Sunday School, Children's Church, and other ministries, the church reinforces the gospel taught and lived out at home.

Our children's ministry focuses primarily on teaching children the Bible and the gospel of Jesus in a safe, loving, and fun environment. We long to see God raise up another generation of faithful believers. We believe that one of our greatest mission fields is right here, among the children of the church. SSBC is eager to partner with families to see this hope fulfilled.

    All of South Shore Baptist Church’s volunteers working with children have completed a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form.

For the safety of our children we use an electronic check-in system that provides children with a name tag and parents a corresponding tag. No child is released unless the corresponding tag is shown.

Sunday Mornings

We provide childcare for infants through 4-year olds.

Please register your children at the check-in desk in the Children's Ministry Wing. All children's programs are located downstairs in the Children's Ministry Wing.

Infants and Toddlers

Sunday Mornings

Childcare is available during our morning worship servies and our Sunday School hour. Members of our church family and parents volunteer monthly to provide a warm, loving environment for our youngest members.

During check-in parents receive printed name and claim tags with matching numbers to ensure accurate pick-up of their children. Cell phones are used as our "pager" system, so numbers must be given upon drop-off.

Preschool

Our three- and four-year-old children are engaged in guided story time, activities and free play during the 8:15 and 11:00am services.

Preschool Sunday School

9:45-10:45am

Sunday School classes are offered for children ages 3 and older between services. Children are taught to grow and love God, and discover what it means to serve in His Kingdom.

Family Ministry

Our new mid-week program replaces our K4C program on Wednesday nights. The kids will still experience the games, snack, Bible study and worship time they loved from K4C, but with a huge difference: You, as parents, will be joining them!

South Shore Baptist Church is committed to helping families grow in their faith together. By hosting a family Bible study once a week, we hope to give parents a chance to grow and connect with their kids, as well as offer them more confidence for spiritual leadership at home.

What to Expect
Check in will begin at 6:20pm in the Children's Ministry lobby. Worship and Bible study start at 6:30. Families will sit together for opening worship and an interactive Bible exploration using the Word of Life curriculum.

Families with other children not in Kindergarten-5th grade are welcome to bring these children along. There will be no childcare for younger siblings, but they may remain with their parents and participate in the worship and Bible study portion of the evening. Older siblings will be encouraged to serve in specified ways during the evening rotations. The ministry of a family can be a powerful influence, so we also encourage families to invite their children's friends to attend with them.

After the corporate Bible study time, the K-5 children will leave their parents for small group and game time. At this point, parents, younger siblings and older siblings will be dismissed to Fellowship Hall to connect with ohter families. At 8:05 the K-5 kids will be reunited with their families for closing prayer.

Children's Church

Sunday Mornings | Both Services
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

Children grades K-2 are dismissed prior to the sermon at both services to join their teachers in Room 10/11 in the Children's Wing downstairs. Children experience worship readiness through celebration of our wonderful God and discover our rich heritage and salvation through Jesus.

Children's Choir

Sunday Mornings | 8:15am Service
Grades 1 - 3

Participants are dismissed during the 8:15am service, prior to the sermon when Children's Church is dismissed. Meets in Room 6 in the Children's Wing downstairs. To register and for more information contact Tammy Gough: email or 617-472-5817.

Sunday School

Sunday Mornings | 9:45-10:45am
Ages 3 - Grade 5

Sunday School classes are offered for children ages 3 and older between services. Grade school children are taught to grow and love God, and discover what it means to serve in His Kingdom. They also develop skills of Bible study and the joys of Christ-centered living. More information is available at the Children's Wing Check-in desk.
